Farmworker Coordinating Council
Cesar Chavez Luncheon 2010
The local mariachi group known as Miriachi Pancho Villa sang“Las Mañanitas”, as the Farmworker Coordinating Council commenced its annual celebration of Cesar Chavez Day. The celebration was held on March 31st, 2010 with a luncheon at Compass Community Center in Lake Worth.
There was plenty of food, music and a guest speaker was featured: Dr. Robert Watson, professor of American Studies at Lynn University. Dr. Watson passionately spoke about the life and legacy of Cesar Chavez, the great farm worker advocate and leader who dedicated his life to improve working conditions for farm workers across the US.
Mexican songs and rhythms had guests singing & dancing with delicious Latin food, courtesy of Sedano’s Supermarkets.
Several donors & supporters were recognized for their outstanding contributions: Mr. & Mrs. Keith & Yvette Lane, Edwards Angell Palmer & Dodge LLP, attorneys at law and Sedano’s Supermarkets.
More than 80 guests, staff, Board Members and community leaders attended the luncheon including City of Lake Worth Commission Jennings. This was the second year that the agency celebrated Cesar Chavez Day.
